Arts & Craft

During this Arts & Crafts activity children are exposed to a variety of artistic expressions. Different genres of art will be introduced. By utilizing watercolors and some everyday materials, the children use art as a way of expressing their feelings, emotions and artistic abilities.

Comic Book Drawing

Participants will work on creating a comic book story but first they will learn about the different components needed for a story. Such as; the beginning, middle and ending of a story, character development, setting and plot. At the end of the program each participant will have created their own comic book unique to them and will be able to share with their family and friends.

Group Bonding

Participants will participate in bonding activities that will benefit them by focusing on communication, giving participants space to develop social skills at one's own speed. These specific activities will include show and tell with songs and pictures, participants will tell stories about their favorite memories, they will get to listen, share, reflect and get to know each other through bonding activities. They will also play games that will allow participants to interact with each other and increase their social relations.

Fitness Frenzy (GYM)

Participants will be involved in a vast amount of indoor activities and sports such as; soccer, volleyball, basketball, steal the bacon (STARTER GAME), and football. These activities will consist of; learning basic rules for all sports that will be played, basic stretches / warm-ups and friendly games with their peers. Each class should consist of a pre-stretch, work on a skill and a scrimmage. Each activity will end in a reflection and a conversation about health and how being active keeps them healthy, while still having fun.

Fitness Frenzy

Fitness Frenzy will introduce participants to exercise activities that can be done in a safe environment. Staff will make sure to adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols. Participants will learn how to perform stretches for specific areas of the body. Simple cardio exercises will be introduced ( jumping jacks, jogging in place etc..) Staff will also share breathing techniques to open and close each activity.

Kids/ Lit

Kids lit will engage participants in various literacy activities. The project that we will focus on during summer rising is to portray each participant as a “WORLD TRAVELER”. During this activity participants will create passports and travel to different parts of the world and students will learn about various cultures and their backgrounds.

Mad Science

Participants will implement each part of “STEM”. Explore different facets of science including but not limited to; biology, chemistry, engineering ETC .. they will be learning through educational videos and hands-on activities. Participants will also learn about the scientific method and familiarize themselves with hypothetical questions.0

Music/ Movement

During this activity, participants will sing songs and learn through movement. Participants will also work to improve coordination, balance, flexibility, strength, spatial awareness, It will also provide an opportunity for participants to gain self-confidence and self-esteem. The activity will also help to promote a sense of teamwork and cooperation, as well as foster creativity and problem-solving skills. It will also provide an opportunity for participants to gain self-confidence and self-esteem.

Pow Wow

Participants will create and perform songs, dances and skits as a group, based on weekly themes, to share with the rest of the program. In this activity participants are given the freedom to use the knowledge learned through various activities such as Art, Group Bonding, music and movement. By having weekly performances, participants will learn stage presence and public speaking. In addition to exploring different styles of dance and songs.
